Art Battle the Texas Championship sends local artist to National Battle!

Art Battle is an international organization that has artist paint for 20 minutes in front of a live crowd and virtual streaming.  The winner of the battle is voted by the public. This year on March 4, 2023 the Art Battle Texas State Championship took place in Wichita Falls Texas. Twelve winners of Art Battles from all over Texas came to J.S. Bridwell Ag Center to show off their skills and vie to represent Texas in the National Art Battle that will take place on April 1, 2023 in Daytona Beach Florida.

The format in the battle is for 6 artist to paint within 20 minutes for the first round. Then after round 1 an different set of 6 artist paint also within 20 minutes.  The top 2 vote getters of each round advance to the Finals Round. In The Finals Round only one of the four will be chosen winner by the live votes.

This years participants were Lara Freeman, Kim Ward, Anthony Campos, Jesse Baggett, Derrick Holt III, Charles Smith, Juliette “Saku” Bailey, Carissa Nalley, Haris feratovic, Megan Najera, Robert Nelson, and Geoff Sykes.

 

 

In round 1 the line up was Geoff Sykes, Robert Nelson, Megan Najera, Haris Feratovic, Carissa Nalley, and Juliette “Saku” Bailey.

The top two by vote advancing to the finals were Megan Najera and Carissa Nalley.

 

 

In round 2 the artist battling were Charles Smith, Derrick Holt III, Jesse Baggett, Anthony Campos, Kim Ward and Lara Freeman.

The top two by vote advancing to the finals were Derrick Holt III and Jesse Bagget.
