Twelve months ago The Hub of North Texas was born. The June 2016 debut issue featured Elaina Kay on the cover, followed by local legends such as the late DeWayne Kinnett and Johnny Divine. Mr. Divine, who has influenced many of the areas great musicians, has gratuitously joined our team as a monthly contributor. His fellow Hub team members, James Cook and Tim Maloney, are no less impressive with over 50 years of active musical experience. Editor David Fowler has also been active in the local music and art scenes. Considering the art and music experience and knowledge of this publication’s staff, it’s safe to say that you would be hard pressed to find another paper like this, especially in the North Texas area.
In this past year, we have met so many shining stars in the area, making future issues of The Hub an even more exciting endeavor. When this started, there were several who asked if there would even be enough material to maintain a fresh and interesting paper of this kind in Wichita Falls. Well, the exact opposite has been our problem. There is so much happening each week and so much talent that we struggle just to keep pace. We have grown from two people betting it all on their community to a solid team of great people being embraced by that community.
On Friday, June 16th from 8pm to midnight The Hub and friends will be celebrating our year of successfully exposing and promoting local talent and local business endeavors. Please join us at 9th St. Studios on the corner of 9th and Travis for this time of celebration. There is no charge and beer, wine, and cake will be provided as well. DeeJay Jammin’ J will be setting the mood and there will be some musical treats throughout the evening. Help us celebrate the past year while we eagerly run into the next promising year. Wichita Falls is exploding and we are thrilled to support that.
