How long have you been DJing?
I’ve been djing for about 15 years now. I did a decent amount of things when I was younger including my under the influence mix cd, but professionally, about 6 years.
Do you like living in Denton?
I love Denton Tx. I was born here and feel thankful for having grown up here and having the privilege of meeting and working with so many creative and talented people/students that come through here.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Ibiza Spain because it’s the super club capital of the world and I have Spanish ancestry so it would be nice to venture there some day.
What made you decide to become a DJ?
I enjoy quality music , like to influence others or at least give people a glimpse of something other than top 40’s or the same saturated crapola you hear on rotation on the radio everyday that big record companies pay to have played.
Tell us about food. What are some of your favorite foods?
Don’t get me started on food. I love it ALL! Asian, American, Mexican….whatever you got, I’m down like James Brown. I love cooking new dishes and do it quite often.
What is your favorite Denton restaurant?
Shout out to Viet Bites they’re holding it down! Their pho is something from the heavens….gawd I love that stuff. A lot of times I just hit up East Side Social club have, a good brew and grab something from the food trucks.
Describe yourself in 3-4 sentences….
My sound, or style, would be best described as being an oldskool, bassed out mini truck on steroids. Fast forwarded until now with modulated bass. I was always intrigued by music. Starting at a young age I played the keyboard and the guitar. I would disassemble my radios and speakers to try and improve or amplify their sound. When the 90’s hit with bass tapes and DJ Magic Mike I was in love. I was like 12 and I would build my own custom big wooden speaker boxes to jam out to in my room. My parents hated it. I would go to Friday Night Live, a local teen dance night, and got in good with the dj. I was like 13 and all i wanted to play was Miami bass.
I gained my musical influences from hip hop, rap, rock, pop, old country music, dance, old computerized bass, new wave anything I could get my ears on. I would take something from it.Then I heard drum and bass for the first time, seen Dieselboy play live at the Bronco Bowl when I was about 18 and it was all over after that.. I knew bass music was for me …………………………..
